My Business Graduation Message

"Location, Location AND Location" these are the very first 3 rules that any real estate student learns in business schools.

Well, my punch line sounds more like: "Network, Network, netWORK, ...... and NETWORK". This basically is what I need to master as a skill that will never reach its full potential.

To back it up --> According to Cross and Prusak from the Harvard Business Review, research showed that people with stronger personal networks are more successful and satisfied than those with weaker networks.

Each and every person has a network of friends and people that they know. Every one is connected in one way or another. For example, you have a friend who you like to hangout with. You may also have another friend who you contact only when you need some personal advice. Maybe you have one friend who who you like to hangout with and listen to their advice at the same time. And so on ...

You see my point? Now imagine that you have many more friends or people you know whom you communicate with ---> you get a NETWORK

Now imagine that the more relationships you have and the stronger they are, the larger and stronger your network will be.

You give great example with the "network of friends" and how different friends have different meaning to an individual; however, we've all heard the tag-line "It's not what you know, it's who you know" over and over again. Nowadays, networking IS stressed even in the most elementary business teachings, and it's nothing new. What is NOT stressed, however, is HOW to network and HOW to determine the greatest purpose a particular network can serve.

I agree that networking is incredibly important, but I don't feel that most networking must be sought out. I think that by just having an open mind, trying new things, and being social, one can create dozens of networks without really trying. I believe that networking is one of those things where some people try too hard and actually alienate themselves.

I think that there is one thing that people tend to miss, when they try to "Network". I know plenty of situations where kids have great networks/ hook-ups/ connections, yet they tend to forgot to work on there specific/ technical skills. People think that connection via network, will land them a job.

To shorten the rambling, I agree of the importance of networking, but I think personal growth should not be passed over.

I agree that importance of networking. Especially in the business “network” is really matter. That’s why “relationship Marketing”, “Emotional Marketing” comes into spotlight. In this age, human networking or social networking is competitive power for market success.
